Parent Coaching Foundational

The Parent Coaching Foundational is your first step into parent coaching by helping parents who are struggling with effectively responding to their child/adolescent’s emotions or behaviors. This course will help you gain a better understanding of how these problems may have developed and are maintained, begin to develop skills to re-connect with your child/teen in a meaningful way, and create change in your family environment.

In the Foundational you will explore the core Parent Coaching concepts that are essential to building a stronger relationship with your child, adolescent or young adult. The program is based on Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) principles and taught by experienced DBT clinicians. The Parent Coaching Foundational is required in order to access all of our other services.

During this 1-day foundational you will:

  • Understand how conflict and chronic problems are developed and maintained in families

  • Learn key concepts to help you understand how you can help your child and your family

  • Learn how to identify what is getting in the way of change in the home environment

UPCOMING DATES:

  • December 6th

TIME: 11:00 - 3:00 PM EST

COST: $300.00 per parent.

(A discounted rate may be available for parents who complete an assessment before the start of the workshop).

Parent Coaching Skills Group

The Parent Coaching Skills Group is a 90 minute, weekly group designed to provide parents with the same tools used in parent coaching sessions. Combining didactics and hands on skill application, the Parent Coaching Skills Group will help you continue to learn new skills with the support and feedback of group leaders and other parents.

Who is eligible? All parents who have completed the Parent Coaching Foundational and would like to continue learning new skills in a hands on format. The parent group is a great place to enhance your parent coaching and/or learn as you are waiting for parent coaching to begin.

What are the sessions like? During the first 30 minutes of each group, group leaders will teach one of the core skills focusing on managing emotions, responding to difficult and problematic behaviors, repairing the relationship, communicating effectively, among others. For the remaining 60 minutes, parents can choose to place themselves on the agenda to discuss a specific interaction. Parents can use the Chain Analysis or the Transactional Model (taught during the Foundational Workshop) to help guide the discussion and brainstorm solutions.

Together, these skills offer parents a balanced approach to effectively manage and respond to their child’s behaviors. The program is based on Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) principles and taught by experienced DBT clinicians.

Group 1: Monday from 8:30am - 10:00am EST

Group 2: Wednesdays from 5:00pm- 6:30pm EST

Clinical Services

Parent Individual Therapy

  • Many parents require support beyond parent coaching. It is essential for individuals to have a space where they can feel acknowledged, understood, and supported. Through individual therapy sessions, we will collaborate with you to empower you, and equipping you with the necessary tools to manage life's challenges effectively. These issues can range from: Depression, Anxiety, Trauma, Emotional Regulation and more. Registration details can be found below.

Family Therapy

  • Family dynamics can be difficult and challenging to overcome. Stress, mental health, and communication issues can all contribute to family members feeling alone, disconnected from each other, and unsure of how to reconnect. In our clinical experience, family therapy works best when parents have been provided skills and feel supported. This is why we start with parent coaching sessions before starting family therapy. When possible we will collaborate with your child's provider to find a joint approach. We believe that people can only begin family work when they are supported and have addressed their own emotional distress.

Parent Couple’s Therapy

  • Parenting is difficult, especially when you are parenting a child who has their own emotional and behavioral issues. These issues can often cause tension in parent couples. We all have our own history, emotions, and ideas on how to approach parenting challenges. Sometimes these differences and the stress of parenting can cause couples to struggle in communication and connection with each other. We work with parent couples to bridge the gap of conflict, create new ways to communicate, and reconnect again. Couples need support too. Registration details are provided below.
